No. 3 Michigan beats Florida to reach first Final Four in 20 years

In all my years of being a Michigan basketball fan, it’s hard to think of a game that was more fun to watch than the Wolverines absolutely crushing Florida in the Elite 8 on Easter Sunday in 2013.

Remember, this game was two days after Trey Burke hit that miracle shot against Kansas, helping complete an incredible last-minute comeback. You wondered if the Wolverines would have the energy to get past a tough Florida team.

Well, it didn’t take long to find out. Nik Stauskas, who had been struggling, had the game of his life. He was 6-for-6 from 3-point range and as a team, the Wolverines shot 10-of-19 from beyond the arc. Burke added 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Mitch McGary scored 11 points too.

This was such a historic win and even though it was clear this team could win it all, I just remember almost not believing that Michigan basketball was back in the Final Four. It was a two-hour fun fest and a game I’ll never forget.
