Michigan football seems to be a near lock when it comes to four-star tight end Louis Hansen, who is being projected to U-M by a slew of recruiting experts.

Things can move quickly on the recruiting trail and for Michigan football, the Wolverines suddenly became the heavy favorite to land four-star tight end Louis Hansen.

Michigan football has been pursuing a number of different four-star tight ends, but Hansen, who is out of Massachusetts, seemed like the most logical commitment. The Wolverines have been among the top contenders along with other schools like Boston College, which makes sense, Michigan State and Wisconsin.

Sherrone Moore has been running point for the Wolverines and it now seems like he’s close to reeling in the 187th overall player in the 2021 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings and the No. 8 tight end.

Don Brown has obviously played a role too here, which isn’t shocking considering ties to the state and how often he helps the Wolverines get players in the Northeast.

The fight for Hansen isn’t over, meaning he hasn’t committed yet, but starting this morning($) with Brian Dohn, seven different experts on 247 sports ($), including Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider, have placed crystal balls predicting Hansen to commit to Michigan football.

Most of these have happened within the past few hours, so it’s fair to say that Hansen to the Wolverines is something that could actually happen in the near future. Sometimes, commitments will follow soon after this kind of trend, but either way, it seems to be only a matter of time.

And if that proves to be true, Michigan football will be a getting a really good tight end in Hansen, who will fit really well in the speed-and-space offense of Josh Gattis. At 6-foot-4, he has the size to play in-line as a tight end, but he shows the ability to line up in slot or split wide.

The Wolverines are moving away from the more traditional kind of tight end. They will want someone who can catch, block and essentially play wide receiver. At times, the tight end can be an ideal guy to have in the slot with three other wideouts.

Hansen, if he improves some as a blocker, could fit really well into that role and it will be interesting to see if we hear anything from him on a commitment soon.
