Michigan Football: 3 takeaways from another miserable bowl loss

Shea’s Piss Poor Play
Yesterday’s inconsistent performance for Shea Patterson sums up his time spent in Ann Arbor. He did what he was supposed to against lesser competition, while only beating a top 10 school in his Michigan career once. It just felt like he never found a comfort zone for himself in two years and leaves Michigan football as an overrated prospect, to say the least.
His numbers in 2019 versus top-25 opponents were telling: 49% completion percentage, with a five to four touchdown to interception ratio. He wasn’t helped out with dropped passes time and time again by his underutilized receiving core. That continued yesterday as well with how poorly he threw the deep ball.
The spotlight turns to Dylan McCaffrey or Joe Milton. If a transfer does not enroll between now and next season, then Jim Harbaugh will finally have a quarterback that he recruited under center. McCaffrey has not thrown an interception yet in his career but hasn’t shown anything in the passing game to get the faithful overly excited about him being next in line. Milton, on the other hand, is adored by the coaches as a future number one overall pick. That prophecy is far from fruition.
