Michigan Football: 3 key takeaways from domination of Notre Dame

Demoralizing Run Defense
It feels like a broken record writing about Michigan’s run defense. They continue to shut down opponent’s running attacks week in and week out. It felt like every time the Irish tried to run it, a Michigan defender was in front of them to stop them. Their longest run of the night was for nine yards, that is something in at of itself.
Tony Jones Jr. came into this battle with three straight 100 yard games. He was immediately halted to a whopping 14 yards on eight carries. Now for the year, Michigan now ranks in the top 20 for rush defense, top 10 for pass and total defense. It’s starting to click at the right time for a bunch that knows what beckons them.
Cam McGrone was a standout once again for the Wolverines. He garnered 12 total tackles and his presence was noticeable throughout.
With McGrone continuing to perform like this it will be very tough for Josh Ross to see the field. Ross was dressed to play, but with McGrone being the middle linebacker Michigan needed to replace Devin Bush, one has to wonder what is next for the junior.
