McGrone is remaining of Devin Bush Jr

One of the most important developments over the past two weeks is the emergence of Cam McGrone who has taken his chance and run with it in the past two weeks.

While the excuse of “It’s only Rutgers” was applied to McGrone and a number of others that stood out against the Scarlet Knights, McGrone was even better Saturday, playing as well as anyone on the defense.

With his speed, athleticism and aggressiveness, he finished with six tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a quarterback hurry. More than that though, he is showing that Michigan football has an adequate replacement for Bush and it’s not Josh Ross.

When Ross comes back, he can certainly fit into the linebacker rotation and should probably start over Devin Gil, but Ross shouldn’t play or start over McGrone, who is clearly a better player.

Not playing the right guys has been a key indictment of this coaching staff early in the season, but thanks to some injuries, McGrone was forced into action and from now on, he needs to be a permanent fixture in the starting lineup.
