Michigan holds Taylor in check

The biggest key for Michigan football in this game is making sure that Jonathan Taylor doesn’t go off for 200 yards or something. If that happens, the Wolverines will be cooked.

Jack Coan the quarterback is certainly an upgrade over Alex Hornibrook and the receivers are better too. But limiting Taylor’s impact and his attempts will be essential to victory.

Last season, Taylor ran the ball 17 times for 101 yards but he wasn’t really a factor in the game. He broke off a couple of nice runs, but down in and down out, Michigan stopped him. The Wolverines also did a pretty solid job against him in 2017, before some late breakdowns.

The thing about Taylor is that if you limit him to under 20 carries, you have a chance at holding him under 100 yards. For the Wolverines, the best way to do that is to get a lead early and force Wisconsin to win by throwing the ball.

The Badgers weren’t able to do it last season and I’m not sure they will be able to Saturday either.
