Michigan Football: 5 bold predictions for Wolverines against Wisconsin
The defense will make a statement
For all the talk about Michigan’s struggles during the first two weeks of the season, the defense has done a good job. The Wolverines allowed only 3.3 yards per carry against Army and are allowing 21 points per game.
Something to keep in mind about that average is that Middle Tennessee State got some easy touchdowns, including one in garbage time and Army only scored 14 points in regulation.
What’s most impressive is that the Wolverines have forced five turnovers so far and with guys like Lavert Hill, Josh Metellus, Ambry Thomas and Vincent Gray in the secondary, look for the Wolverines to keep being opportunistic.
Hill will likely be tasked with covering Quintez Cephus and it’s up to him to shut him down. He’s capable of it and that could be the start of an All-American campaign for the senior.
You also get the feeling that Daxton Hill might find a way to make an impact in this game. The biggest key is the front-seven. Josh Uche, Aidan Hutchinson, Kwity Paye, Josh Ross, Carlo Kemp, Mike Danna and everyone else needs to be at the top of their game.
Of course, shutting a team down completely is damn-near impossible. So Wisconsin will get around 300 yards and maybe 17-20 points. But the defense will do enough to win, as long as the offense holds up its end of the bargain.
