Ronnie Bell

When the season starts Aug. 31 Ronnie Bell may well be starting in the slot for Michigan football and therefore, would be viewed as a starter. But it’s hard to say with Nico Collins, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Tarik Black and Mike Sainristil all in the mix.

Bell may open the season as the fourth or fifth receiver. He could also be the No. 3. When it comes to being a deep threat, Black may be better than Bell, however, in the slot, the 6-foot Bell offers something different. He’s quick and elusive.

Bell stood out in the spring and he has continued to impress during fall camp. Sainristil was also impressive in the spring and he projects to have a role in the slot as well.

Regardless of whether or not Bell actually starts, he is one of the guys that is a starting-caliber player. Ed Warriner said Michigan football believed it had six starters on the offensive line before Stueber got hurt and you could say something similar at wide receiver.

The Wolverines have at least five guys good enough to start. Bell is one of them and even in limited snaps, he will be a key player on the offense.
