Michigan Football: 5 bold predictions for Wolverines in fall camp
Giles Jackson will steal some thunder from Mike Sainristil
It’s safe to say that every Michigan football fan is excited about new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis and his speed-in-space offense. Last spring, one guy that really emerged was incoming freshman Mike Sainristil and he seemed to embody the new kind of weapon UM will employ.
Sainristil is shifty and the 5-foot-10 receiver that should dominate in the slot. Whether it was with quick passes, handoffs or whatever, Sainristil made an impact and many expect that to carry over to the regular season.
I do too, however, I also expect fellow freshman wide receiver Giles Jackson to steal some of this thunder. When the 2019 recruiting class was first signed, it was Jackson, a four-star receiver and all-purpose back, that seemed to be the guy to help revolutionize the Wolverines in the slot.
He’s the kind of player Michigan football hasn’t really had and while cracking the top three on the wideout depth chart may be difficult, I expect him to show enough to earn a niche role in the offense. It also wouldn’t shock me if fought his way into the mix as both a kick and punt returner.
