Isaiah Livers 2.0

Carlos ‘Scooby’ Johnson may not be as talented of a shooter as Livers but his game is very similar, he just stands a couple of inches shorter. Standing at around 6-foot-5-inches, Johnson can hit the three, and as you can see from the video below, he can hit it in high-pressure situations.

“Offensively his jump shot is fairly consistent in catch and shoot situations and his motor leads him to relentlessly attack the rim. He doesn’t possess the athleticism of other wings we’ve scouted but attempts to make up for it with effort and physicality,” said A.J. Blankenship in his scouting profile of Johnson. “While he won’t be confused for Chris Paul, Johnson has good vision as a passer for a 6’5 wing and had a number of nice set ups for teammates out of high post situations.”

What is certain about Scooby is that he can play with and beat the best as displayed when he and Emoni Bates – the 2021 No. 1 basketball player in the nation –  faced off. Johnson came out on top and not only did they win but Johnson outscored Bates 38-35.

Johnson is on the Benton Harbor roster and the Detroit based AAU team The Family. Despite the Rivals forecasting a Michigan State commitment, Scooby said that he doesn’t favor any school at this moment.

“Really any of them, I’m open to every school,” Johnson said. “There’s no specific one.”

Scooby is the No. 2 ranked in-state basketball player and he is ranked 19th at the PF position. Nationally, Scooby comes in at 121st with three-stars and a 9345 composite rating. Rivals gave Johnson four stars and ranked him 23rd positionally, although, they ranked him as a SF.
