Pesky Hoosiers

For whatever reason, when it comes to upset scares, it seems like Indiana gives them to Michigan football more than any other underdog.

The Wolverines still haven’t lost to Indiana in football since 1987, but there have been some close calls, including overtime wins under Harbaugh in Bloomington in both 2015 and 2017. In fact, the Wolverines last three games at Indiana have been decided by seven points or less and the same goes for four of their last six visits.

On top of that, Indiana has played Michigan tough in Ann Arbor the last two times. In 2018, led by quarterback Peyton Ramsey, who will be starting again for the Hoosiers in 2019, Indiana took a 17-15 lead into half over the No. 4 Wolverines before eventually losing 31-20.

Ramsey threw for 195 yards, as well as one touchdown and one interception. He also hurt Michigan with his legs, rushing seven times for 51 yards. Don Brown found the solution in the second half and held the Hoosiers to three points over the final 30 minutes, but again, this has trap game written all over it.

The week prior to visiting Indiana, Michigan will host Michigan State and the week after playing the Hoosiers, the Wolverines will welcome Ohio State to the Big House for The Game.

You wouldn’t think UM would overlook the Hoosiers again but even if they don’t, Bloomington hasn’t been kind to the Wolverines and even if they don’t drop the game, no Michigan football fan will be shocked if its another tight battle between the two Big Ten East rivals.
