QBs

Starter: Shea Patterson

When it comes to the starting job, Shea Patterson still has that on lockdown. Of course, he was going to have to continue to improve during the spring and before next season to keep it, but he has done that so far and you wouldn’t expect that to change before fall camp.

Patterson has been the subject of a lot of criticism for how last season ended but let’s not forget he helped lead Michigan football to 10 straight wins and ended the spell against Michigan State with a clutch touchdown pass to Donovan Peoples-Jones. He beat three ranked teams in a row and until proven otherwise, he is the best returning quarterback in the Big Ten.

Backup(s): Dylan McCaffrey and Joe Milton

When it comes to the backup job, McCaffrey and Milton are neck-and-neck. Both had strong moments in the scrimmage. Milton had a poor interception where he lost track of Michael Barrett, however, he threw some dimes, including a back-shoulder completion to Erick All for 20.

Yet, McCaffrey looks like the 2A right now, making Milton 2B. It’s close but he just a little more polished. It’s too bad there is only one year of difference between the two but whoever ends up being the starter next year, is going to have the Wolverines in good hands.
