Michigan Football: 5 positions to watch during Wolverines spring game
D-Line is loaded with intrigue
There is plenty to watch when it comes to the defensive line but the No. 1 thing will be the play of Ben Mason, who is going to play both ways. I’d expect him to see snaps at end and tackle and honestly, that’s what everyone wants to see.
How Mason fits will be fascinating but he feels like a depth guy to me. Aidan Hutchinson, Kwity Paye, Carlo Kemp and Donovan Jeter, as well as Michael Dwumfour and Josh Uche, when he’s not at linebacker, feel like the top six guys.
Others can work their way into that mix. Mike Danna certainly will this fall and Mason is also attempting to do that along with redshirt freshman Julius Welschof, a 6-foot-6 defensive end that has grown a lot in his one year with Michigan football.
Jeter has reportedly made a jump and so has Hutchinson, according to coaches but it will be fun to see these players with our own eyes and judge what they look like.
The defensive line should be a strength and it’s one of the top things to watch Saturday during the controlled scrimmage.
