Christian Turner takes charge at running back

I know I have talked about Christian Turner a lot since the month of December but there is a good reason why. The former three-star running back has electrifying abilities and he appears to be having a very good spring.

Following the first practice, Harbaugh formally met with the media and he sang the praises of Turner, who he said was surging at running back. Harbaugh also announced that highly-touted, four-star freshman Zach Charbonnet would miss the spring with an injury.

That set the table for Turner to grab hold of the starting job this spring and it sounds like he is doing that. Chris Evans is still trying to come back if he can get his grades figured out and Tru Wilson is going to be a steady presence. His hard-nosed running style and ability to pass protect will keep him in the mix.

In terms of being the guy though, Turner is the only healthy back right now with that capability. It will be exciting to see what he can do in the spring game and open practices this month because when it comes to judging a running back, it’s hard to do without pads and live tackling.
