Michigan Football: 5 key takeaways from offense so far this spring
No worries about the O-line
Speaking of Warriner, when he joined Michigan football last spring, the Wolverines offensive line was a mess. Michigan couldn’t run the ball, couldn’t pass protect and it was a major issue heading into the 2018 season.
Then, all the offensive line did was come out and have arguably its best season under Harbaugh. Karan Higdon ran for over 1,100 yards and Patterson was sacked very few times. In fact, he was one of the least sacked quarterbacks in the Big Ten.
Michigan averaged more than 200 yards on the ground and thanks to the offensive line, physically dominated ranked opponents like Penn State, Wisconsin and Michigan State.
While the Wolverines do have one opening at right tackle, the other four sports feature returning starters and right now, the offensive line is one of the biggest strengths of the offense.
Andrew Stueber and Jalen Mayfield are still battling it out at right tackle, but that’s the only unknown there is when it comes to the front five. Warriner has them playing outstanding and with four All-Big ten honorees returning, Michigan might have the best offensive line in the Big Ten.
