Michigan Football: 5 key takeaways from offense so far this spring
Shea Patterson is perfect for this offense
One of the consensus points of view coming out of spring practice for Michigan football is the fact that Gattis’ offense seems tailor-made for Shea Patterson.
Patterson played in a spread system in Ole Miss during the first two years of his college career before transferring to Michigan and throwing 22 touchdown passes and for more than 2,500 yards last season.
While Patterson was outstanding for Michigan football a season ago, putting together one of the better seasons by a Wolverines quarterback in recent memory, according to offensive line coach Ed Warriner, this new scheme fits him even better.
“We have a quarterback who played in a spread offense – it’s tailor-made for his skill set,” Warinner said to Wolverines Wire. “Dylan’s learning it, and he’s doing a good job. Joe Milton’s learning it. They have skill sets that match this.”
Other coaches and also players have spoken about how Patterson has adapted to the new scheme and even though many want there to be a quarterback competition, there just isn’t. Patterson is going to star this fall and some the sounds of it, he should excel in this offense.
