Campanile is a rising star that can recruit the Northeast

One of the biggest gets of the Harbaugh era was defensive end Rashan Gary, who was a gem in the 2016 recruiting class. He was from New Jersey and with the addition of Campanile to the coaching staff, Michigan football should continue to have a stronghold in the region.

When Harbaugh started considering who to get to replace Washington, it was his own coaching staff that recommended Campanile, who started at a well-known prep school in New Jersey, before getting a job at Rutgers and eventually ending up at Boston College.

Campanile was ranked as the No. 18 recruiter in the ACC conference by 247 sports and considering that Boston College is far from a powerhouse, that’s a good sign. In fact, Michigan coaches kept hearing his name on the recruiting trail and he had the Eagles in on players that Boston College shouldn’t be in on.

So now that he will be recruiting players for Michigan football, his stature on the recruiting trail should go up even more. He’s young, talented and he knows the Northeast. Those are all good things for the Wolverines.
