An Oklahoma State upset of Texas would be good for UM

Another one-loss team that has made its way into the playoff conversation is Texas and the Longhorns did that by beating Oklahoma and starting off perfect in the Big 12.

Saturday night though, the Longhorns will face another challenge and that will be knocking off Oklahoma State on the road. The Cowboys are just 4-3 and aren’t the team some expected them to be, but they know how to score points and as three-point underdogs, an upset is well within reach.

If Texas did lose, it could help Michigan in a couple of ways. One it would weaken the chance of a Big 12 champion jumping the Wolverines. Texas would have too weak a resume if it ran the table and won the league with two losses. Oklahoma’s resume would also be weaker, even if it came back and beat the Horns in the Big 12 title game.

Either way, a loss by Texas would be a good thing for Michigan football. And now with four teams to root for throughout the day in Michigan State (early kickoff), Penn State (afternoon), Florida (afternoon) and Oklahoma State (evening), your Saturday is all set.
