Michigan beats Nebraska 34-20 (1-0)

When the Wolverines and Huskers meet Saturday morning in Ann Arbor, it will be a matchup of two of the most storied programs in college football. It’s also a battle of teams that shared the national championship in 1997. UM won the AP title, while the Huskers were ranked No. 1 by the coaches. The overall series is tied 4-4-1.

Nebraska head coach Scott Frost was the quarterback of that team and Saturday’s affair against the Wolverines will be his first Big Ten game at the helm of the Huskers. It’s also a game he desperately needs to win. Heck, at this point, he just needs a win period.

Nebraska, which was without its starting quarterback due to injury, lost to Troy and previously lost to Colorado, making the Big Red 0-2 as they come to the Big House. The teams have met three times since NU joined the Big Ten, with Nebraska winning the last two meetings, including a 13-9 win at the Big House in 2013.

That was the final season under Brady Hoke and that game was one that signaled a need for change. Now, both teams have quality head coaches and hope for the future. Unfortunately for Nebraska, the future is now for Michigan football and even though the game will be competitive, the Wolverines will win 34-20.
