Michigan Football vs Notre Dame: How to watch, storylines and more
Michigan football takes on Notre Dame Saturday night in South Bend. Here’s everything you need to know, including how to watch.
There has been a ton of hype surrounding the season opener between Michigan football and Notre Dame. Now it’s just about time for kickoff between the Wolverines and Irish, the 14th and 12th ranked teams.
This matchup has everything you could possibly want. On one side, there is Michigan football with its new quarterback and head coach Jim Harbaugh, trying desperately to prove that his program has reached the big time. On the other, you have Brian Kelly, trying to get his team back into playoff contention and a major bowl game.
Winning a road game against a ranked opponent for the first time 2006, when Michigan won at Notre Dame under the direction of Lloyd Carr, Chad Henne and Mike Hart, would be a good start at proving the Wolverines are back and not the same team that went 8-5 in 2017.
Shea Patterson will get his first chance at quarterback for the Wolverines and the Michigan defense will get the opportunity to show everyone its one of the best overall units in the country.
With so much on the line the first week of the season, this is a game you don’t want to miss. So here is all the information you need: how to watch, some storylines for the week and finally, some of our predictions for the game.

Who are the Fighting Irish?
Last season, Notre Dame went 10-3 and won the Citrus Bowl. At one point, the Irish looked like playoff contenders before a bad loss to Miami sent them back to earth. The defense should be stout and the offense, led by senior Brandon Wimbush should have a knack for explosive plays.
Wimbush is among three players from Notre Dame worth keeping an eye on as I detailed earlier this week. Our own Matthew Bartlett also broke down the Irish and our Peter Arango looked at what needs to happen for Michigan football to come away with a win.
More coverage and predictions
Also this week, we took a shot at predicting how the 2018 season will go for the Michigan football team. I predicted the Wolverines to go 11-2, see what I else I predicted for UM. I also took a shot at predicting what will happen against Notre Dame Saturday night.
For everything else you need to know about the game, our Michael Keenan took the time to hammer out an in-depth preview of Michigan-Notre Dame, which is well worth the read.
While not all our contributors have made a prediction for this week, Chris Peterson and Michael Keenan both believe Michigan will win by double digits. Hopefully, we are both right.
