The game between Michigan football and Notre Dame has been talked about on both sides for months. Now it’s days away and here are three bold predictions.

There has been a lot of talk about Michigan football and Notre Dame and for good reason. On the first full Saturday of college football, it could be the best game on the slate. Yes, Washington vs Auburn features two teams ranked higher, but there is a reason College Gameday is in South Bend.

It’s a big game for both teams. It’s especially big for Michigan football, a program and a team that needs to prove it can win a big game.

Jim Harbaugh, who has the quarterback now in Shea Patterson and truthfully, no excuses, needs to find a way to win this game. It won’t be a season ender or anything like that, it just sets the wrong tone and continues the same narrative.

If this Michigan football team is going to have a great season, a fast start would be a big help and beating the 12th-ranked team on the road definitely qualifies. It doesn’t matter if it’s a low-scoring game or a high-octane shootout, UM just needs to win.

Certainly, that will be easier said than done. The Wolverines offensive line will be tested, so will Patterson, who will face a top-notch defense in his first start at Michigan. The defense also faces a mobile quarterback, something that has been an issue in the past.

There is no lack of excitement and no lack of storylines for this game, but here are a few predictions about what might happen Saturday night.
