Michigan football will kick off its 2018 season Saturday at Notre Dame and here are five predictions for the Wolverines over their 12-game slate.

If you are a Michigan football fan then this week is your week. Saturday is the day that the Wolverines finally hit the field to take on Notre Dame in a renewal of one of college football’s best rivalries.

While the game against Notre Dame won’t define the season, it’s a pretty important opener for a lot of reasons. Mainly, it’s a chance to change the narrative that Michigan football and more specifically Jim Harbaugh can’t win a big game.

It’s also the Wolverines biggest rival outside the Big Ten and you can bet if Harbaugh drops this game it will get added to his abysmal 1-5 record against Michigan State and Ohio State.

Yet, we all need to remember this is a tough task. Michigan has a new starting quarterback and is playing on the road against the No. 11 team in the country. The Fighting Irish won 10 games last season, have an outstanding defense, a very good coach, and the home-field advantage if that means anything.

But even with a loss Saturday, Michigan football can do great things this season. This team is capable of winning double-digit games, winning the Big Ten and even making the College Football Playoff.

The question is whether or not the Wolverines will live up to that potential? It feels like all the pieces are in place and with that in mind, here are five predictions for Michigan in 2018.
