Winning the Outback Bowl would be a great season-ending gift

When the season started, Michigan football fans were obviously hoping for more than an Outback Bowl berth. Yet after losing 16 players to the NFL last season and playing three different quarterbacks, going 8-4 doesn’t seem so bad.

The Wolverines definitely need a defining win and South Carolina (8-4) is the only opponent left, so the Gamecocks will have to do. A win would get the Wolverines a ninth victory for the third straight season, as well as some much-needed momentum heading into 2018.

It would also allow guys like Hurst, Mason Cole and the rest of the seniors to go out with a win. There’s no doubt, it’s been a tough season for the Wolverines and their fans. An Outback Bowl win isn’t going to solve everything, but a good showing by Brandon Peters and Michigan would heal some wounds.
