Yaxel Lendeborg seems to be getting better fast before national title game

The status of Yaxel Lendeborg is still up in the air but the buzz has been positive since Sunday.

It seems clear that Michigan superstar Yaxel Lendeborg avoided a serious injury on Saturday night, but there is a question about his status for Monday night's championship game with UConn.

Lendeborg suffered an ankle injury and an MCL sprain that limited him to just 15 minutes in the win over Arizona, although he still scored nine points and made all three of his 3-point attempts.

Even without Lendeborg for most of the game, Michigan dominated Arizona. UConn feels like an entirely different animal. Lendeborg is the best player in college basketball, or has been during the NCAA Tournament, so not having him at 100 percent is a blow.

All signs point toward him playing. There were even a couple of positive updates on Monday.

CBS college basketball analyst Gary Parrish said that Yaxel walked by on Monday, wearing sandals, without a noticeable limp. Parrish said he seemed in "good spirits," too.

Michigan basketball fans should be excited about the fact that Parrish said Lendeborg looked "very comfortable."

Another sign that Yaxel Lendeborg is playing in national title game

The All-American forward was walking with a limp on Sunday, but that seems to have improved. He also doesn't have any structural damage.

Tracy Wolfson of CBS Sports also reported that Lendeborg was going to take part in Michigan's walkthrough on Monday, which would play a role in his final decision to play or not.

It does seem like Yaxel will be able to play. He probably won't be 100 percent, however, it sounds like he will be closer to 100 percent than many expected.

If that's true, if Lendeborg is anywhere close to the player he normally is, Michigan's chances of beating UConn go up in a very real way,

Lendeborg took part in walkthroughs and seemed in good spirits. He also wasn't wearing a brace or anything.
