Raise your hand if this is not how you thought your Monday would go. Yup, every Michigan fan is raising their hands as the news dropped of National Championship-winning head coach Dusty May heading to the NBA to take the Dallas Mavericks job.
It has been a whirlwind of a day with the news of May leaving, Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel for the second time in three years not actually getting an extension done with a championship-winning head coach, and now a promotion in the works for assistant coach Mike Boynton to be the interim head coach for the Wolverines.
While fans are still digesting the news, so are players, as well as former players, like Yaxel Lendeborg, who is currently a day away from seeing his NBA dream come true. The Michigan leading scorer last season posted his reaction on his Instagram story, and honestly, it speaks to how every Wolverine fan is feeling.

Total disbelief in what is going on in Ann Arbor right now. There were many rumblings of interest from NBA teams in May, but it felt like, after a championship season, there was no way he was leaving Michigan. However, when the right call comes in, sometimes a better opportunity just can't be passed up.
It doesn't mean this move doesn't hurt, and some Michigan fans aren't going to be able to get over this, even if May is moving to the NBA and not another college program.
Some Michigan fans aren't going to forgive Dusty May for a long time
While a lot of Michigan fans have chosen to look at the good times with May rather than focus on his sudden exit, others are so quick to be happy for the now-former Michigan head coach. Yes, May brought a championship back to Ann Arbor on the hardwood for the first time since 1989, but that doesn't mean he deserves all the love and support in the world.
At the end of the Day, I can’t hate Dusty May for moving to the NBA, he brought me a natty. However, I won’t sit here and say I’m rooting for his success. What an awful way to do this.

Be happy about the natty, but this fan is not planning to continue to cheer for May at the NBA level. This move is sudden and clearly something no one saw coming, so it is fair to know they won't be looking forward to his success anytime soon.
Dusty May did us so dirty man. Sold out when he coulda built a dynasty at Michigan

While the roster may not have been quite at the level it was last season, with a coach like May leading the way, it felt like Michigan had something special. Now, no one will ever know what could have been in Ann Arbor with May there for a few more seasons.

May truly broke the hearts of many fans with this news, and not just broke their hearts, but ran over them, stopped, backed up, and ran over them again. Michigan fans were so excited for the future with May leading the way, but now the keys are in the hands of Mike Boynton for now.
