We are a week removed from the conclusion of Michigan basketball's season. The focus for the Wolverines has shifted from competing for a championship to building a championship contender for next season. Dusty May has been very active in the transfer portal trying to convince the best of the best to play for the maize and blue.

But arguably the biggest unknown on Michigan's roster is whether or not Danny Wolf will return to Michigan basketball or enter the NBA draft. The general consensus has been that Wolf will likely depart for the NBA, but this one is definitely not a done deal.

How Michigan basketball could try to get Danny Wolf to stay

For one, with NIL, Michigan basketball can offer Wolf a deal similar (or even greater than) what he'd make as a late first-rounder. That'd be roughly $3m. With rumors of some players being offered $4m+ in the portal, that number definitely isn't impossible. Money shouldn't be the issue here.

Another strong argument in Michigan's favor is that Wolf definitely has some things he can improve on. Namely, turnovers. While Danny definitely made some fantastic plays, there were too many times when his decision-making was poor. If he were to come back to Michigan and show the NBA that turnovers aren't going to be an issue, he could be a high-end lottery pick.

Ultimately, Danny Wolf is in a very unique situation. As a 7-footer who can handle the ball like a point guard, NBA teams are going to be more willing to take a risk on him. His draft stock is automatically higher because of that, even if he definitely has some areas to improve in.

Whatever decision is reached, there's no debating that Danny Wolf is a Michigan man. He was a key part of Michigan's tremendous turnaround, and looks to have a bright future in front of him. Stay tuned for any updates here.
