Final Thoughts

Give Sherrone some time. This was always going to be a difficult year. This team lost 18 players to the NFL along with the majority of the coaching staff. Forget about the talent they lost for a second, this is a player-led team, and thats 18 veteran leaders. That doesn't just get replaced right away. The rest of the Big 10 also got better as many struggling programs have moved into their second or third year with new coaches meaning they're more established and more competitive. And then you throw in Michigan has to play arguably the three best teams in the country during the regular season.

It wasn't going to happen overnight. Yes this season hasn't met expectations. But neither did Harbaugh for the first six years of his tenure at Michigan. Sherrone is a really young and talented coach who just needs some time to figure it out and bring the roster together. It was never going to be fair to judge Sherrone off the results of this year, it still isn't. This will be an interesting conversation three years down the road, but until then be grateful for a national championship and enjoy the ride of building back to it.
