Lie: The season is saved

Michigan football sitting at 5-3 is still a disappointment. The Wolverines could have beaten Illinois or Washington or both and been right in the mix for a playoff berth.

If Michigan goes on one of the greatest runs in recent memory with top-10 wins over Oregon, Ohio State, and Indiana, maybe the Wolverines could sneak in with a 9-3 record, but that's far from a guarantee and the Wolverines aren't winning out.

Not unless they play a completely different brand of football. It was nice to beat Michigan State. But if the Wolverines play like that on Saturday against Oregon, they will lose by three touchdowns.

It would be fun to see this team pull an upset and one might be possible. But let's see what happens against No. 1 Oregon before we get too optimistic about the final month of the season.
