Michigan football notched an important win over Nebraska on Saturday, defeating the Huskers 30-27 inside Lincoln Memorial Stadium.

It wasn't a perfect game. Michigan made some mistakes. Biff Poggi had a big error. There were some penalties and turnovers, too.

Despite all that, Michigan weathered the storm, and added a key win to its resume. Yet, another win with an acting or interim head coach.

Back in 2023, Michigan football won six games without head coach Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh served a three-game suspension, self-imposed, before the Big Ten suspended him for three more games because of the Connor Stalions scandal.

This season, Michigan had to play two games without head coach Sherrone Moore. The Wolverines won both of those, too, with. Biff Poggi as the acting head coach.

Moore can be around the team again in a few hours. The Wolverines will have a bye and eight weeks to compete for a Big Ten championship.

However, one of the most insane stats from the past three years is that Michigan is now 8-0 with interim/acting head coaches, which includes three wins on the road in Big Ten play.

The best start for a running back in Michigan history

There have been some great running backs in the history of Michigan football. Yet, with his 149-game on 17 attempts, along with a touchdown run, Haynes became the first running back in U-M history to start his career with four straight 100-yard games.

It's a good thing Alabama was willing to let him go, because the former five-star running back has been as impactful as any transfer portal addition in college football.
