The 2026 college football season is still incredibly far away, with the calendar flipping to July, but in two short months, fans will get to see their favorite teams and players on the field. Shortly, fall camps will begin, giving fans more information on how the teams are shaping up.
Michigan will be one of the most watched team with season with its third head coach in three years. Jim Hargaugh left shortly after winning a National Championship in 2023. Sherrone Moore was around for two years before a scandal left him without a job, leaving Kyle Whittingham in charge of the Wolverines this season.
There is a lot that Whittingham is expected to do, but one of the biggest things is getting this offense back on track. With former five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood leading the way in his second season with Michigan, a lot more will be expected of the young gunslinger with a year of experience under his belt.
There is hope that Underwood will produce at a higher level this year, especially with the pass-catching talent around him. Underwood will have the return of Andrew Marsh, his top receiver last season, as well as the addition of JJ Buchanan, a Utah transfer.
On3's J.D. Pickell released his rankings for the Top 10 best quarterback/wide receiver duos, and Underwood and Marsh were not included, but that shouldn't come as a huge surprise to any Michigan fan.

Why is this not a shocker? Well, looking at the numbers, Marsh only had 651 receiving yards and four touchdowns compared to the No. 1 duo on that list, Ohio State's Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith. The Buckeyes receiver had 1,243 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
So, Underwood and March have a lot of work to do in order to find their way into these rankings, but this could be what is needed to light a fire under this duo and get them going this season.
Andrew Marsh is primed to be Michigan's leading receiver yet against this season
Marsh was a bit of a surprise for Michigan this past season, especially being a freshman, leading the way in receiving yards. While Marsh was a four-star recruit coming to Michigan, it was still impressive to see him perform as well as he did, given how underwhelming the offense was last season.
Now, with a year of experience for both Underwood and Marsh, and even better, being together on and off the field for the last year, it has created a better bond for the 2026 season. This is the year Underwood has to step forward with all the hype he has garnered since signing with the Wolverines, and some are going to want him to put his money where his mouth is, especially with how much he makes in NIL.
