Former Michigan offensive lineman Taylor Lewan was on ESPN's "Get Up" this morning to discuss the Michigan football coaching job, and he has a few names he'd like to see running the show for the Maize and Blue.
Lewan, who is one of the hosts of the 'Bussin' With The Boys" podcast, believes that the Michigan administration has to act fast to avoid being put in a similar situation that Penn State dealt with when it lost nearly its entire recruiting class by failing to have a coach in place before December.
Lock everyone who makes decisions at Michigan in a room and don’t let them come out till they have the best guy for the job.

Lewan wants Michigan to reach out to Matt Campbell
The irony of Lewan's hope that Michigan doesn't put itself in a similar situation to Penn State is that Matt Campbell is one of the names he believes the Wolverines should target with their first calls. Campbell, who coached at Iowa State from 2016-2025 and was three-time Big XII Coach of the Year, accepted the Penn State job on December 5.
Lewan points out that it took Penn State several weeks of going through candidates and being shot down before arriving at Campbell. The 46-year-old coach agreed to an eight-year deal worth a reported $70.5 million.
"Matt Campbell is probably the last name on my list right there, not in any specific order. But I would look to Matt Campbell. I would look at how dry that ink is on that contract," Lewan said. "Because when you look at Penn State and how they went across their whole coaching search, they hit about 7, 8, 9, 10 people. If I'm [Campbell] and I feel some kind of way about Penn State and their process and if I'm one of Michigan's top three calls, I'm listening to that call."
Michigan needs to act quickly
Lewan has other names mentioned, including Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham and former Michigan coordinator Jesse Minter, who followed Jim Harbaugh to the Los Angeles Chargers for the same role.
But wherever Michigan goes, Lewan believes the process needs to start immediately.
"It's so imperative that Michigan gets the right guy as fast as possible. If they take longer than January 2, Michigan is dangerously close to going through what Penn State has got through for their coaching process," Lewan said.
