It's hard to believe but Michigan Wolverines star Will Johnson didn't end up being a first-round pick.
After the 2023 season and helping Michigan football win the national championship, most projected Johnson, a 6-foot-2 cornerback, to get selected in the top five.
However, Johnson's final season with Michigan football was hampered by injuries. Johnson played in just six games. He intercepted two passes, and both were returned for touchdowns. He also returned an interception for a touchdown against Minnesota in 2023.
Johnson was an elite player for the Wolverines since his freshman season. NFL teams have concerns about his knee though, which could be a long-term concern according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Michigan CB Will Johnson Jr. has a knee issue that has concerned some NFL teams and helps explain why he still has not been selected.

You knew the isues had to be serious when Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers passed on Will Johnson, along with cornerback-needy teams such as the Packers, Lions, and Bills.
Heading into day two of the 2025 NFL draft on Friday, the Michigan Wolverines cornerback should be one of the first players off the board. Even if the injury is a concern, there is less risk in the second round.
When Johnson is healthy, there's no doubt he's one of the best cornerbacks in this draft class. Mock drafts from The Athletic and ESPN have Johnson projected to land with the Raiders at the 37th overall pick.
That would be a great landing spot. Pete Carroll knows a thing or two about great cornerbacks. Charles Woodson was drafted by the Raiders. Johnson followed his path to Michigan. Maybe he'll end up with the Raiders too.
Regardless, whoever gets Johnson, is getting a steal.
