2. @ Oklahoma (September 6th)

Despite ending the 2024 season at 6-7, this is going to be a very tough matchup for a number of reasons. First, the Sooners brought in one of the top transfer quarterbacks in the country in Washington State's John Mateer. In 2024, Mateer threw for 3,139 yards and 29 touchdowns, while adding 826 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. He could very easily be the best quarterback the Wolverines play all season.

Next, this game is on the road, and Norman is as hostile an environment as it gets. The Sooners were 5-2 at home in 2024, notably dominating Alabama 24-3 when the Tide were in prime position to make the playoffs. It's going to be a rowdy environment, and combined with the final factor, makes this game scary.

Lastly, Michigan football will have uncertainty at the quarterback position. Right now, it seems like freshman Bryce Underwood is the favorite to start at quarterback at the beginning of the year. But Fresno State transfer Mikey Keene can't be counted out. His experience is a very important factor.

Michigan will have the tough task of choosing between an inexperienced but incredibly talented freshman or a more experienced but less talented veteran. In a hostile environment like Norman, that decision is very difficult. It's going to be a huge test for the Wolverines early in the season.
