Will former FAU players follow Dusty May to Michigan basketball?

A key question for Michigan basketball head coach Dusty May is whether some of his talent at FAU will be able to follow him to play for the Wolverines.

Dusty May answered a lot of questions during his opening press conference as Michigan basketball head coach, but one he couldn't answer was whether some of his former players at FAU would follow him to Ann Arbor.

There are three in particular that Michigan basketball fans have their eye on. They are each All-Conference performers from last season and would dramatically raise the floor of the Wolverines for next season if they were added via the transfer portal.

As it stands, no players have entered the portal from FAU. However, most have assumed that Johnell Davis, Alijah Marin, and Vladislav Goldin would join their former head coach at his new job. They are all juniors with one season left to play. There could be questions about admissions but not if any of them have graduated.

We do know that May has been in touch with Wisconsin transfer Connor Essegian and that there is a "mutual interest" from both sides. In terms of May's former players at FAU, the next head coach for the Owls could be important.

If the Owls promote from within, that could help them retain those players. However, if that doesn't happen, May could bring some assistant coaches, and hopefully, his best players from FAU. Chris Balas of The Wolverine reported that Kyle Church getting hired could hinder those moves.

Yet, Davis and Martin shared images of May from his Michigan basketball press conference. That could be just to support May. But it could be a hint at something else. For now, we'll have to wait and see but their additions would be huge news for the Wolverines.
