What Five Stars is Michigan Football in a Good Position for?
Five-Star S Jordan Young (NC)
Jordan Young is a new addition to this list. The new staff has been in regular contact with Young and is making him a priority. Michigan has emerged as a real contender in his recruitment, and is battling the likes of Clemson, Florida State, and NC State.
The Tigers are the biggest contender for Young, and currently hold a lead for his services. With that said, Clemson doesn't play the same NIL game as many of the southern schools, and therefore aren't unbeatable in my eyes.
The biggest factor here is distance in my opinion, which really isn't too bad when you consider that Charlotte is a short flight from Detroit. While NIL could become more of a factor down the line, Michigan should be able to seriously contend for Young.
Young is set to visit Michigan on June 21st, which is Michigan's Victors Weekend. It'll be an opportunity for Young to meet with current members of the 2025 class as well as other top targets. That visit will be a tremendous opportunity for Michigan to make a real impact on this recruitment.
Young is set to make a commitment on October 12th, which is obviously a long ways away. To me, that is a bit concerning. That gives other schools plenty of time to increase their NIL offers or get Young back on campus. Michigan's best shot here is wowing him on the 21st and getting Young to move up his timeline. Otherwise, the Wolverines will have to get him back on campus for a game.
