The NCAA punishment for Jim Harbaugh is another ridiculous, but predictable move

The NCAA has the maturity level of a toddler. It also showed it has the sense of one on Wednesday issuing former Michigan football Jim Harbaugh a four-year show-cause penalty, as well as a one-year suspension if he ever returned to college football, over "Burger Gate."

Never mind the fact that Ohio State's top recruit in the 2024 class, asked if his NIL check cleared before he signed with the Buckeyes. Or the fact that the Baylor coaching staff has been walking around with TV shirts saying, "We Pay Players."

I know the NCAA has zero interest in enforcing NIL rules or even its own rules half of the time, unless it doesn't like an individual, but its governance has gotten ridiculous. Schools are lining up Lamborghini cars for players on recruiting visits, but yes, Jim Harbaugh bought a kid a cheeseburger, as well as a few other minor violations and didn't cooperate up to NCAA standards.

It's ridiculous. The NCAA has had it out for Jim Harbaugh since he came back to Michigan football and this punishment shows the organization has reduced itself to petty moves in an attempt to retaliate against Harbaugh for having the gaul to fight back.

The bottom line is that you can't trust what the NCAA says or does. It leaked a draft notice of allegations and the headline was that Sherrone Moore was facing Level 2 violations for deleting text messages, even though he recovered them from his deleted inbox and turned them over.

The NCAA didn't need to twist his arm and yet, even after seeing the messages, Moore's worst offense is deleting messages that he still voluntarily turned over.

It makes my head hurt. The NCAA is a joke and their own conduct reinforces that. Their own rules prohibit the constant leaks we have seen on ESPN, so it's hard to take them seriously.

Who knows what to expect from the NCAA, which has proven time and time again, it can't be impartial when it comes to Michigan football. Harbaugh needs to go to court and so does Michigan because it's time to stop allowing this pathetic organization run roughshod.

Update: Jim Harbaugh's attorney responded with a statement calling the NCAA a "Kangaroo Court" among other things.
