Position battles

There are some interesting position battles to watch for Michigan football and not just at quarterback. The Wolverines graduated 10 starters on offense from last season, so there's few guaranteed jobs going into camp.

Donovan Edwards is probably one of those at running back. Greg Crippen and Raheem Anderson are battling it out at center, which is a promising development.

There is a ton of competition at wide receiver and in the secondary, at cornerback and safety. There are also players battling to reach the two-deep on defense at linebacker and defensive line.

Competition brings out the best in people and Michigan football has embraced it. Iron sharpens iron and the ideal situation for these starting battles is when you essentially have two starters emerge. Michigan saw that happen on the offensive line last season, and when you can shuffle players in and out like it's a hockey line change and that's what the aim is for U-M.

Competition helps you get there.
