It's been fun watching Ohio State and Michigan State fans whine about all the success Michigan football has had over the past three seasons.

They are the ones talking about the NCAA dropping the hammer on Michigan football over the whole "sign gate" incident.

Even retiring OSU AD Gene Smith who saw the end of his tenure defined by failure, said Michigan football should have an asterisk for the winning streak over the Buckeyes, despite the fact those games were all won at the line of scrimmage, as they usually are, which has nothing to do with signs.

That's where Urban Meyer beat Michigan. At any rate, on Friday, there was a fresh freak out and it was over Donovan Edwards being on the cover of the EA Sports College Football 25.

Michigan State fans were talking about Nate Carter and Kenneth Walker. Walker had a great career but Michigan State isn't relevant enough nationally to have someone on the cover. You could say the same thing about Colorado but Travis Hunter is such an incredible athlete I guess it overrules where he plays.

Ohio State fans freaked out too over Edwards' lack of production. Yes, he hasn't put up huge career numbers. However, Edwards had two long touchdown runs in the national championship game against Washington. He also scored a touchdown against Penn State in 2022 and 2023, plus he had two touchdown runs over 70 yards against Ohio State in 2022.

Edwards has shown up in Michigan football's biggest games and he's one of the most exciting players in college football. Would he be on the cover of the game if Michigan football hadn't won the national championship? No.

But to the victors go the spoils. Video games are also about offense and Edwards is the most well-known Michigan football player on that side of the ball. If anyone has a complaint, it's probably Will Johnson.

The only reason Hunter is on the cover is because he plays offense and defense. All of the other cover athletes are offensive players including Jalen Milroe of Alabama, Quinshon Judkins of Ohio State, Quinn Ewers of Texas, and Hunter.
