Projecting Michigan Basketball's rotation and what's next
By Nick Popio
What's next?
That's 11 scholarship players counting Vlad Goldin. His pledge to Michigan basketball is expected with crystal balls in Michigan's favor for a while now. It doesn't include Johnell Davis, who looks like he is trending elsewhere (Kentucky or Arkansas) because of NIL or another admissions blunder. May could be done dealing for the time being.
Nimari Burnett and Jace Howard are also absent from the list. Burnett probably transfers again because that's the cool thing to do for any plausible reason these days. He's done it twice already and why would Howard want to stay after his dad just got fired? He'd play more minutes at a MAC level school or smaller.
That, realistically speaking, leaves one or two spots for Aidan Mahaney, Khani Rooths, Trey Townsend, Liam McNeeley, or even a name that hasn't even popped up in discussion yet. Those all feel like a pipe dream at the moment. However May still needs a go-to guy and if he can nab one or two of them, then Michigan basketball can contend in year one for a March Madness berth.
