Nickel: Zeke Berry

One of the toughest players to replace from last season's national championship team will be Mike Sainristil, a true Michigan football legend.

Mikey was dominant in that nickel position. He made big play after big play and was one of the best tacklers out there I have ever seen. Whether it was sceen plays or just in the open field, he rarely missed.

Vying to replace Sainristl will be Ja'Den McBurrows, someone who has been talked up by Sainristil himself, and also Zeke Berry, a former four-star safety commitment.

Berry also made a move this spring, just like Hill. McBurrows was limited with injury so that opened the door for Berry who took advantage. He was impressive all spring but especially in the spring game. He can cover, play the run, and really do it all.

Berry just has to prove he can be a consistent producer. McBurrows is solid in coverage and a solid tackler too and it wouldn't surprise me if the two shared some snaps. Berry can also play safety, while McBurrows can play outside corner too.

But as far as the starting nickel for Michigan football this season, give me Zeke Berry.
