Michigan football fans know that Ohio State is a recruiting juggernaut, but the Buckeyes aren't the only one in the Big Ten after Oregon joined the league officially this summer.

Dan Lanning and company, armed with a huge NIL war chest thanks to NIKE, have become a force on the recruiting trail and the Ducks are now targeting one of the top commitments in the 2025 Michigan football recruiting class -- Andrew Olesh.

Olesh is ranked 94th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings and the four-star tight end is ranked fourth at his position. Michigan football landed the 6-foot-5, 215-pounder out of Pennslyvania and beat out Penn State and Alabama for his commitment.

It will be interesting to see if the Oregon offer creates any movement. Offers are one thing, but I don't worry about a flip until the recruit takes a visit to campus. So if Olesh visits Eugene, then my concern level will start to rise.

For now, I'm not overly concerned. Oregon did the same thing with Mason Graham back in the 2022 class and nothing came of it.

A new contender for 5-star Andrew Babalola

Michigan football has been gaining traction with five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola. The 6-foot-6, 280-pound tackle is ranked 27th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Out of Kansas, Stanford was viewed as the firm leader earlier this summer for the five-star talent, but Michigan football hosted him for an official visit in June and moved the needle. However, according to Steve Wiltfong of On3.com, Michigan making a move opened the door for others too, including Auburn.

The Tigers are putting together an elite 2025 class and they are hoping to make Babalola part of it. Babalola originally wanted to commit in August, but he told Wiltfong that his decision would at least go past August 13 which was an original target date.

Stanford is still the leader via the On3 prediction machine. The Cardinal have an 88 percent chance to land his commitment, but with Michigan and Auburn pushing, I'm not sure the actual percentage is that high. A decision was expected soon though and Michigan had momentum at that time.
