Michigan Wolverines news: Ohio State names starting QB, plus more
We don't know who will be the starting quarterback for Michigan football just yet and we might not know until after the start of the regular season.
But the Ohio State Buckeyes know who their starter is going to be. There was a competition going on, but it felt like it was always going to be former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard and Ryan Day announced him as the starter on Thursday.
Howard has led Kansas State to a Big 12 championship, but he's also completed just 58.8 percent of his passes for career and has two seasons with 10 interceptions (25 total in 34 career games).
Howard is more of a running threat and that could be something different for Michigan football to deal with because the Buckeyes abandoned running the QB the past three seasons. Chip Kelly could revive that with Howard and pounding the rock is the best way that the Buckeyes can beat Michigan football, which makes me skeptical that they can pull it off.
Howard could be better than the Michigan Wolverines starting quarterback. But he wasn't going to start at Kansas State. That's why he transferred so, maybe the gap between Howard and Alex Orji or Davis Warren won't be that large. Maybe there won't be a gap at all.
