Nobody wanted to see Juwan Howard's tenure as the Michigan basketball head coach end the way that it did. It wasn't that long ago that Michigan fans were singing his praises.

Howard guided Michigan basketball at a Big Ten championship and five wins in NCAA tournament games, which included two trips to the Sweet 16 and an Elite 8. The past two seasons were difficult and the 8-24 campaign of 2023-24 led to his termination.

Warde Manuel, after the press conference to introduce Dusty May, told reporters it was the hardest thing he's ever had to do. On Thursday, we finally heard Juwan Howard's side of things via an interview he did with Brendan Quinn of The Athletic.

It was an interesting interview. Howard opened up more about his health. He said nothing but positive things about his time at Michigan. Yet, he did say that the Michigan basketball program didn't get the NIL support it needed and mentioned the Hunter Dickinson departure.

Howard ended by saying he had no hard feelings and that, "I'm just sad I'm leaving sooner than I expected to."

Dusty May assistant coach hire confirmed

We talked about what the hire of Akeem Miskdeen would mean for Michigan basketball and according to Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic, it's confirmed. It's been confirmed by other outlets too, directly quoting Miskdeen that he's joining the Wolverines.

Miskdeen coached under May at FAU. He'll be coming to Michigan basketball from Georgia and should help the Wolverines in the recruitment of Khani Rooths, who is now a four-star (used to be a five-star recruit). Rooths was committed to Michigan basketball before Juwan Howard was fired.

Miskdeen was Rooth's primary recruiter at Georgia where Rooths was recently projected to land. Miskdeen was also key in the recruitment of Johnell Davis, who just entered the transfer portal. The assistant coach was also vital in helping Dusty May build up FAU, so this is a great move.
