Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan football team had something new to celebrate on Thursday as four-star tight end Eli Owens committed to the Michigan Wolverines over Alabama and others.

Owens is 6-foot-2, 243 pounds, and ranked No. 355 overall in the 247 Sports Composite rankings. He's 19th among tight ends and had an impressive offer list. Owens was on campus for the Ohio State game and following the Michigan Wolverines win over Alabama in the Rose Bowl, he decided to join the 2025 class.

Michigan football has four commitments right now in the 2025 class. The class is ranked 12th according to the 247 Sports team rankings but all four commitments, including quarterback Carter Smith, are rated as blue-chip prospects via the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Michigan basketball blows yet another lead

The Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team has now lost eight of its last 11 games and four of five at home at Crisler following a 73-71 loss to Minnesota. It was a similar formula for Michigan basketball -- as the Wolverines blew a seven-point second-half lead. The defense collapsed down the stretch and it's becoming fair to question if Juwan Howard is going to return next season. He's lost his team.

What makes all the home losses even worse is that Michigan basketball was favored in all four home losses. Michigan is 6-8 and right now, the NIT feels like a pipe dream.

Michigan women's basketball falls on the road

The Michigan women's basketball team had a key game on Thursday, on the road against 14th-ranked Indiana, but the Hoosiers were able to pull away for an 80-59 win. The first quarter doomed Michigan as the Wolverines fell behind 36-17 and never really threatened.

Laila Phelia had a stellar game with 23 points on 8-of-19 shooting as the Wolverines dropped to 11-4 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten. U-M will be off until next Tuesday.
