With two Joe Moore award winning lines and a national championship one, it begs the question of which line was the best over the last three years?

The debate about which Michigan football offensive line since 2021 is the best can be an argumentative one. The unit won back-to-back Joe Moore awards and then lost its most irreplaceable lineman at the worst time possible and still became undisputed champions. Each group had its moments and I go through the last trio of years to discuss which one is most recognizable.

2021

This is where it all started. Ryan Hayes, Trevor Keegan, Andrew Vastardis, Zak Zinter and Andrew Stueber. Keegan and Zinter were basically infants and coming off of Jim Harbaugh's worst season at Michigan, but the signs were there. They bulldozed through Washington and the tone was set for the remainder of 21. Michigan's offense ran for almost 350 yards that night.

Three weeks later they went into Madison and won in one of the most difficult places to win in the Big Ten. The maize and blue jumped into the top 10 and the college football world took notice. On Halloween weekend the maize and blue lost a heartbreaker to their rival as Cade McNamara had a career day passing. Little did anyone know what would be the result of that loss.

Thanks to help from Purdue and another prudent win in Happy Valley all that stood in their way was the team that they couldn't beat. Haskins and the line closed out the Penn State win with an unforgettable hookup between Erick All and McNamara that the line created the time for. Then on Thanksgiving weekend, the improbable happened. Michigan football finally beat Ohio State with their finest moment of the season. 300 yards on the ground in the inclement weather to cement the first Joe Moore award in program history.
