Michigan football is a leading contender in the recruitment of four-star wide receiver Taz Williams. The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder out of Red Oak, Texas has visited Ann Arbor this spring and is set for an official visit this summer.

Michigan football is the current leader according to the On3 prediction machine. Ohio State was in the mix, but it appears that the Buckeyes are no longer in the running. Williams told Marshall Levenson of Rivals that he'll be announcing his commitment on July 13th among Michigan, Texas A&M, SMU, and Penn State.

Where Michigan football stands with Taz Williams

Williams is ranked No. 293 overall in the 2025 recruiting class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Alabama and Ohio State were on the schedule for official visits according to Williams' 247 Sports profile but since those teams were cut from his top-four list, I doubt he'll make those trips.

Penn State and Texas A&M will host Williams for official visits. Michigan football will host him for the final official visit. Sometimes, that's a good thing. Other times, it doesn't seem to matter so much about the timing. It's great to get the last word in though.

Michigan is in the mix for some top-notch wide receiver targets such as Quincy Porter or Derek Meadows who just visited Ann Arbor this past weekend. Williams is a dynamic talent though. Last season he caught 80 passes for 1,251 and 14 touchdowns.

The Wolverines also don't have any wide receivers committed yet in the 2025 class and getting a commitment from Williams would be a good place to start.
