There hasn't been a ton of focus on recruiting with the Rose Bowl game coming up, plus all the rumors surrounding Jim Harbaugh, etc.

But Michigan football has been working hard on the recruiting trail. Jim Harbaugh and the coaches have visited a bunch of 2024 commitments, plus the Wolverines are also working to add to their 2024 class with guys like Gatlin Bair.

Bair has been projected to Michigan football, but Oregon is still pushing for the top-40 wideout who won't be joining any college football roster until after a Mormon mission in 2026.

Yet, the Wolverines have become the favorite with another blue-chip prospect and that's EDGE defender Lugard Edokpayi. He's a prototypical target for Michigan football under Mike Elston. The Wolverines love long, athletic defenders with a ton of athleticim. That's Edokpayi, who is ranked 303 overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider has projected Edokpayi to the Wolverines. So have EJ Holland and Zach Libby of The Wolverine.

Edokpayi is raw but think about a David Ojabo type. He had multiple games this past season with three sacks. He's also got an 84-inch wingspan. Here's part of his scouting report from Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports:

"Should be viewed as a developmental pass rusher with a ton of upside. Must improve his game in a variety of different ways, but could prove to be quite the score for someone as his length allows him to attack the corner like few others. Rare features destined to draw the eyes of NFL scouts if he keeps progressing."

Elston is great at developing talent, plus the addition of Edokpayi, if the projections prove to be true, would add to an intriguing EDGE haul in 2024 that includes Dominic Nichols and Devon Baxter, which would give the Wolverines three 6-foot-6 pass rushers to mold.
