Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore talked on Monday about how the Wolverines need to continue to open up the offense for Alex Orji.

Moore confirmed that Orji would be the starter against Minnesota and it feels like he's going to be the guy moving forward. It would be nice to see the Wolverines coach more to his strengths, but we'll see what happens.

Last week's game plan was pretty limited. There wasn't a whole lot of creative stuff in there and at times, it looked like it. However, the Wolverines still rushed for 290 yards and averaged 6.7 yards per attempt, which was the reason for their success. That and the otherwordly Kalel Mullings.

Mullings put the team on his back on the final drive against USC and before that even. He got Michigan football on the board with a 53-yard touchdown run. His 63-yard run on third-and-one and his touchdown run on 4th-and-two saved the season.

But the offensive line had key blocks on all of those plays. Evan Link, who has drawn a bunch of criticism had a key double-team block with Marlin Klein on the long run and it wasn't the only good run block he had throughout the day.

Michigan football offensive line shined against USC

Michigan football running backs averaged three yards before they were contacted, which was a big improvement from the first three weeks when Michigan averaged below two 2.4 yards in each game and under two yards against Texas and Fresno State. It shows that the offensive line is trending in the right direction after playing its best game of the season according to Sherrone Moore.

“That defense is pretty good,” “That defense is pretty good,” Moore said of USC via The Wolverine. “Two hundred and ninety yards on the ground. We averaged [6.3] yards a carry. The O-line definitely played their best game, for sure.

“I think they averaged like 3 yards a run before contact, which is pretty good. So if you’re blocking for 3 yards, it means you’re probably going to get four or five. And with Kalel back there, maybe 8. Two hundred and ninety yards on the ground. We averaged [6.3] yards a carry. The O-line definitely played their best game, for sure."
