The Michigan football recruiting BBQ has already been productive for the Wolverines as they closed the weekend with a commitment from blue-chip prospect Brody Jennings in the 2026 class.

Jennings, a 6-foot-1, 165-pound cornerback out of Jacksonville, Florida visited Michigan football for the first time this weekend and was projected to the Wolverines by EJ Holland of The Wolverine not long ago.

Florida, Kentucky, Miami, Ole Miss, SMU, Texas A&M, and others were in the mix for Jennings, however, the Wolverines were able to get him on campus for the BBQ and Lamar Morgan continues to be elite on the recruiting trail, landing the commitment of Jennings, who is ranked No. 271 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2026 class.

Morgan has landed a pair of top-100 defensive backs in the 2025 class. Michigan also leads with four-star cornerback Jayden Sanders, a 2025 cornerback who visited this weekend.

Yet, in a sign that the 2026 recruiting class will be one to watch for Michigan football, Jennings committed on his his first visit. Sherrone Moore played a role in his commitment and so did the fact that the Wolverines have sent so many defensive backs to the NFL.

“(Michigan) has a really good group of defensive backs, and I know that I would get developed there,” Jennings said to Holland. “There’s a lot of history behind the school. The defensive backs were developed right last year and they played really well. They have a lot of good coaching.”

The Wolverines have a strong blue-chip percentage so far in the 2025 class (11/16) and with Jennings in the fold, along with Hart, their top-100 QB, Michigan is 2/2 so far in the 2026 class and it's clear they are just getting started.
