Michigan football defense 'brings out the best' in Wolverines offense
The Michigan football offense has a huge advantage on most college football teams simply because it gets to play one of the best defenses in the country every single day.
There are a few defenses that deserve to be mentioned with Michigan football but not many. The Wolverines won the national championship a season ago and the defense was dominant. However, many believe it could be just as good or better in 2024.
The Wolverines could have as many as four or five first-round picks in the 2025 NFL draft if everything works out and four could be on defense as Mason Graham, Will Johnson, Kenneth Grant, and Derrick. Moore all have that potential and play preimum positions.
The fact is, Michigan football has NFL talent at every single position on defense and at most spots, there is more than one future NFL draft pick.
While that's awesome for the defense, it's a good thing for the Michigan offense too. The Wolverines are tasked with moving the ball against one of the best units in the country and there is plenty of best-on-best in Michigan football practice.
Defenses "brings out the best" in Michigan football offense
You can call the Wolverines a lot of things, but soft isn't one of them. They don't shy away from competition and when Donovan Edwards was talking about facing the defense in practice, I got excited about what this offense can do in the 2024 season.
“Going against the best defense all of fall camp is a pain,” Edwards said the Wolverine. “It’s a pain. Like, it sucks. Bruh, like those guys are really good. It’s been a constant back and forth — offense wins, defense wins — and that’s something you want to have as a football team. There are a lot of things we’re really good at, and when the season comes, that’s when it’ll show.”
Edwards also talked about the chance to face the "best of the best" as he called it and how that brings out the best of the Wolverines on offense too.
“Absolutely, because you’re going against the best guys — the best of the best,” Edwards explained. “In games, too, you’re still going against the best of the best, but there are those times of hardships, like not really wanting to run a play, you find that inner dawg in you to bring out, to continue to compete. That’s what our defense does, they bring out the best in us.”
